This year’s Godiva Festival in Coventry saw tens of thousands of festival-goers come together for an exciting weekend of music, food, and festivities. BigParking supported the event by expertly managing traffic flow, parking, and residential access.
BigParking’s role was essential in managing the high traffic volumes while safeguarding nearby residential areas.
Collaborating closely with Festival organisers, Coventry City Council, we implemented a clear, well-marked residents-only parking scheme.
We offered peace of mind to local residents, eliminating past issues with overcrowded and antisocial parking.
Effective traffic flow was crucial for an event of this scale, so BigParking set up directional signage and established designated event parking areas, guiding visitors into the site without causing congestion in surrounding neighbourhoods. We deployed our CSAS-accredited Traffic Management Operatives to great effect to provide dynamic traffic direction and road closures.
Our marshals and stewards were on hand to help direct vehicles into the parking zones efficiently, preventing unnecessary bottlenecks and allowing a smooth arrival experience for attendees.
With designated parking facilities specifically set up for the event, BigParking ensured a steady traffic flow even during peak arrival and departure times.
This dedicated space kept residential streets free for locals, maintaining a sense of order and helping the event run smoothly from start to finish.
To maintain a secure environment, BigParking deployed Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) solutions across key access points.
By strategically placing barriers and using HVM-trained staff, we provided an added layer of security that protected both festival-goers and residents.
These measures helped regulate entry points, mitigated risk, and enhanced overall safety on-site.
BigParking’s experienced stewards were positioned strategically across the site and surrounding areas, ensuring both festival-goers and local residents could safely navigate the area.
Our team was instrumental in managing pedestrian and vehicle movement, directing traffic, answering questions, and coordinating temporary road closures for the smooth flow of movement throughout the festival.
“Our goal was to balance the needs of attendees with those of the local community,” shared Candice Sannio, BigParking’s Operations Director. “Working closely with Godiva Festival organisers, we provided a seamless, organised environment that catered to the festival’s safety and the local residents’ needs.”
BigParking’s successful collaboration with the Godiva Festival highlights the impact of tailored parking solutions, efficient traffic management, and a responsive approach to the needs of both event attendees and local communities.
Effective traffic management is essential to the success of Metropolitan events, and BigParking is proud to have played a role in making Coventry’s Godiva Festival an enjoyable experience for all.
