Vale Park, located in Stoke-on-Trent, England, has served as the home of Port Vale F.C. since 1950.

At its peak, the stadium held a crowd of 42,000 in 1954 against Blackpool, with a record 49,768 attending an FA Cup fifth-round match against Aston Villa in 1960. Following safety upgrades and seating installations in the 1990s, the stadium now has a capacity of 15,036 (or 19,052 without limitations).

Situated 525 feet above sea level, Vale Park is the eleventh-highest football ground in England and second-highest in the English Football League. The clay-based pitch, unlike typical sand underlayers, is prone to freezing and tends to remain very dry, making passing play challenging. Additionally, a coal seam runs under the pitch, with old mine shafts scattered throughout the area.

One of the league’s widest pitches, Vale Park was originally constructed on filled marl, lacking a proper drainage system, which makes it prone to flooding. Addressing the issue would require a complete re-laying of the pitch, quoted at £450,000 in 2014.
